‘When will the cryptocurrency bear market end?’

That’s the question on everyone’s mind these days.

Forbes recently sat down with cryptocurrency pioneer and ShapeShift CEO Erik Voorhees to discuss this question — among others. Here’s what he had to say on the state of the cryptocurrency market.

‘Crypto is Crypto’

Voorhees, whose opinion holds more weight than your average predictor, believes we are certainly in a bear market and nearing the bottom — but that doesn’t mean we’re going to start seeing massive gains anytime soon.

While it’s true that crypto is volatile and unpredictable, we tend to agree more that the bear market will end in a matter of months, as opposed to years. That said, making long-term predictions is little more than fantasy in the cryptocurrency space. It’s best to take it day by day.

Entering the Mainstream

For the average individual with just a passing knowledge of Bitcoin, the cryptocurrency market is an intimidating place — especially after the massive losses incurred by many in 2018. Meanwhile, for even the experienced cryptocurrency trader, there is nothing quite as heart-wrenching as waiting for the first confirmation when conducting a transaction.

Until cryptocurrency becomes more user-friendly, it is unlikely we’ll reach the proverbial moon anytime soon.

It is our opinion that it’s only a matter of time until Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are entirely mainstream. When that will happen, exactly, remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure — we’re just getting started.

What do you think about the current cryptocurrency bear market and the road to mainstream adoption? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
